Professional Headshots in Atlanta
Your headshot is already working for you — or against you. Every LinkedIn profile view, every casting submission, every conference bio. Most photographers point a camera and say "smile." As an Atlanta headshot photographer with an actor's background, I direct you the way a film director works with talent — and that's what makes the difference.

I hear versions of this constantly, and there's a reason. Most people booking a professional headshot in Atlanta aren't excited about it. They need the photos, but they're dreading the awkwardness. So the session itself matters just as much as the final images. If you're tense the whole time, the camera picks that up.
Get someone relaxed and the photos take care of themselves. Real expression, real confidence, real personality. Not the frozen smile you put on when someone says "cheese."

Headshots for Every Professional

Business
Most business headshots in Atlanta look the same: stiff smile, crossed arms, generic backdrop. Yours won't. I'll direct you through natural expressions so your photo actually looks like the person your clients meet in real life.
Studio or on-location at your office
Multiple backgrounds and outfit changes
Same-week turnaround available
Actor
I've sat in the audition room. I know what casting directors flip past and what makes them stop. My actor headshots are built on that experience, not guesswork. Atlanta's film market is too competitive for a headshot that doesn't pull its weight.
Theatrical
Dramatic depth for film, television, and stage auditions
Commercial
Approachable energy for advertising and lifestyle roles

Getting great photos of everyone in your office shouldn't be a chore. I bring the studio to your location, give clear direction, and make sure everyone walks away with a photo they actually want to use. No stiff corporate assembly line.

Your Session
What to Expect at Your Atlanta Headshot Session
Before Your Session
Every session starts with a conversation. During your consultation, we'll talk about how you plan to use your headshots, what you want them to communicate, and any specific requirements for your industry. I'll send you detailed wardrobe guidance so you show up feeling prepared and confident. Most clients bring 2-3 outfit options, and we'll decide together what works best on camera.
During Your Session
This is where my actor training makes the biggest difference. I don't just point a camera and say "smile." I direct you through expressions, postures, and energy shifts the same way a director works with talent on set. We'll try confident and approachable. Serious and warm. Relaxed and powerful. You'll see your images on screen in real time, so you know exactly what we're getting.
Most sessions run 45-90 minutes in my Decatur studio, with professional lighting designed specifically for headshot photography. I work at your pace — no rushing, no assembly line.
After Your Session
This is where most photographers send you home with hundreds of images and leave you to figure it out alone. I do the opposite. We sit down together right after your session to review every image on screen. My experience on both sides of the camera means I can help you see what a casting director, hiring manager, or client will see — so you walk out confident in your selections, not overwhelmed. You choose your favorites and purchase them on the spot. Each selected image is then professionally retouched and delivered via a private gallery within 5-7 business days, in both standard and high-resolution formats.

Why I Photograph Headshots Differently
I'm Robert Mitchel Owenby, and I bring something to headshot photography that most photographers can't — years of experience as a working actor in Atlanta's film industry.
That means I understand what it feels like to stand in front of a camera with no idea what to do with your face. I've been coached by directors, and I've studied what separates a forgettable photo from one that stops people mid-scroll. Now I bring that same skill to every headshot session.
80% of my clients tell me some version of the same thing: "You made me feel so comfortable." That's not an accident. It's the whole point. When you're relaxed, your real confidence shows through — and that's what makes a headshot work.

Common Questions
What Clients Want to Know
Sessions start at $250, with individual edited images at $250 each. Most clients invest between $1,500 and $3,000 depending on how many images they select. This à la carte approach means you only pay for the headshots you actually love — no package pressure, no minimum purchase.
Bring clothes you feel great in. Solid colors work best on camera — navy, charcoal, jewel tones, and white are all strong choices. Avoid busy patterns, large logos, and overly trendy pieces. I recommend bringing 2-3 outfit options so we can mix looks during your session. When you book, I'll send detailed wardrobe guidance tailored to your industry and goals.
Most individual sessions run 45-90 minutes. This gives us time to try multiple outfits, backgrounds, and expressions without feeling rushed. Team sessions vary based on group size — I can photograph 10-15 people per hour with individual attention for each person.
My professional studio is at 3469 Peachcrest Trace in Decatur, GA 30032. It's minutes from I-285, I-85, and I-20, making it an easy drive from anywhere in Metro Atlanta — Buckhead, Midtown, Sandy Springs, Alpharetta, Marietta, and beyond. For teams of 5+, I also offer on-location sessions at your office.
I typically have availability within 1-2 weeks for individual sessions. Same-week sessions may be available depending on schedule. For team sessions and events, I recommend booking 2-4 weeks in advance. Contact me to check current openings.
You'll select your favorite images right after your session with my guidance — no waiting, no agonizing over choices alone. Each image you select is then professionally retouched and delivered via a private gallery within 5-7 business days, in both standard and high-resolution formats.
My background as a working actor means I don't just take photos — I direct you. Most people don't know how to look natural in front of a camera, and that's completely normal. I coach you through expressions and posture the way a film director works with talent, so you end up with headshots that feel authentic rather than stiff. That's why 80% of my reviews mention feeling comfortable during the session.
